Family
Hey friend! I am so glad you are here. When you love the way you look, you begin to show up differently - that's the power of transformation.I understand the desire to have confidence both inside and out, to feel visible in a noisy world.
Spring is the perfect time to hit the refresh button on your wardrobe and step into a stylish organized closet. As the seasons change, in life and in weather, so should your closet! If you’re feeling overwhelmed by cluttered shelves and unworn clothes, and you feel like items in your closet are giving you the side eye everytime you walk in,👀 it’s time to declutter and build a wardrobe that reflects your personal style.
In this guide, I’m going to walk you through spring refresh tips to help you create a streamlined, functional, and fashionable wardrobe that works for your lifestyle.
A clutter-free wardrobe isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about clarity, confidence, and efficiency. Here’s why a wardrobe refresh is worth it:
✔ Easier Outfit Choices – A tidy closet means you’ll only see clothes you love and actually wear, reducing decision fatigue.
✔ Saves Time & Money – No more impulse buys or wasted time searching for missing pieces. You’ll know exactly what you have.
✔ Boosts Confidence – Wearing clothes that fit well and align with your personal style makes you feel polished and put together.
✔ Creates Space for New Styles – Out with the old, in with the new! Decluttering makes room for intentional style updates.
Before diving in, set yourself up for success with a solid plan:
🕒 Set Aside Time – Block off a few hours or an entire day to go through everything.
📦 Gather Supplies – Have donation bags, a “maybe” box, and storage bins ready to sort your clothing.
📌 Use the Four-Pile Method to categorize items:
This is a time to really ask yourself the hard questions, and honestly really think about them. Go through each item in your closet and ask:
✨ Does this fit me well? If not, can it be tailored?
✨ Have I worn this in the last year? If not, it’s time to let go.
✨ Does this align with my current personal style? Your style evolves—keep what represents you now.
✨ Do I feel confident in this? Clothes should make you feel amazing, not just take up space.
✨ Is this versatile? If it doesn’t work with at least three outfits, reconsider keeping it.
✨ Am I just keeping this for sentimental reasons? We all have these pieces but they may need to be put in a keepsake drawer or bin.
Be honest with yourself—Your closet is valuable real estate. Make sure what is in there is serving you.
Once you’ve decluttered, organize your wardrobe so getting dressed is effortless:
✅ Group Similar Items – Keep tops, dresses, pants, and accessories together.
✅ Use Space-Saving Hacks – Slim hangers, drawer dividers, and shelf organizers work wonders.
✅ Rotate for the Season – Store winter clothes and highlight spring-friendly fabrics like linen and cotton.
✅ Color Code – Arranging clothes by color makes outfit selection easier and visually appealing. ROYGBIV* is my favorite way to organize tops and blouses and I group like tops together. i.e..sleeveless tops ROYGBIV the Short sleeves the same and long sleeve.
*Don’t know what ROY G. Biv is? The homeschool mom in me is coming through- Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo and Violet ( then Grey and Black )
Now that you’ve cleared space, this is when we make our list to start our spring refresh. I use the notes app on my phone so I always have it with me. Here is what mine looks like – it doesn’t have to be super specific but having it handy will eliminate coming home with more of your favorite things vs filling in gaps. Here is mine from my last edit. I clearly do not need to add blazers to my closet, and this is a good reminder because I love them so I gravitate toward them when shopping.
Now that you know what you need here are a few spring refresh essentials you may need in your wardrobe:
🌸 Lightweight Jackets – A chic trench, denim jacket, or tailored blazer.
🌸 Breathable Fabrics – Swap out heavy sweaters for cotton, silk, and linen.
🌸 Versatile Dresses – Midi and wrap dresses that can be styled up or down.
🌸 Comfortable Footwear – Sneakers, loafers, ballet flats, or strappy sandals.
🌸 Spring Color Trends – Add pastel tones, earthy neutrals, or floral prints for a fresh look.
A decluttered wardrobe isn’t a one-time event! If you keep the habit of having a list of pieces on your phone, and do this spring refresh again in the Fall with your wardrobe and mini edits for summer and winter you will have a functional and organized closet!
Here are a few extra useful habits: Take what works, don’t use what doesn’t:)
✔ One-In, One-Out Rule – When you buy something new, donate or sell an item.
✔ Seasonal Check-Ins – Review your wardrobe every few months to keep it fresh.
✔ Quality Over Quantity – Invest in versatile, high-quality pieces that last longer.
✔ Create Outfit Recipes – Having go-to outfit combos reduces daily decision fatigue. I have a list of 5 easy outfit recipes you can grab free here
Once you’ve decluttered, make sure your unwanted items find a good home:
🛍 Sell High-Quality Items – Use Poshmark, ThredUp, or Depop. I use Poshmark all the time Here is a link to see how it doesn’t have to be fancy. Websites like this are easy to use because they deal with the shipping aspect, you just have to print the label and send it off to it’s new home.
🎁 Donate to Charity – Give to local shelters, Dress for Success, or Goodwill. 100% this! Find a charity that speaks to you and donate items.
♻ Recycle Old Clothes – Brands like H&M and Levi’s offer clothing recycling programs. Madewell offers a coupon for old denim, Nike for old shoes and Soma for old bras. If you can recycle the items vs trashing them do it!
Decluttering your wardrobe isn’t just about creating space—it’s about building a closet that works for you. With a simplified, stylish wardrobe, getting dressed will be easier and more enjoyable. If you follow these simple steps once and then maintain, the difference in taking the stress out of getting dressed will be felt every morning. My goal with clients is always to have them feel stylish and confident faster than they can brush their teeth.
