It’s one of the most overlooked style blocks that keeps your outfit from looking intentional. This can be fixed easily – don’t worry! Let’s talk about what this mistake looks like, how to spot it and fix it so you feel more confident and aligned with you, everytime you get dressed.
You’ve got all the right pieces, the cute top, stylish jeans and even great accessories– but something still feels “off”.
The outfit feels frumpy, boxy, ill-fitting or just missing that polished look.
This is usually a proportion problem
Proportion is all about how the parts of your outfit balance together–length, fit, shape and where your clothes visually begin and end on your body.
When you outfit cuts you off at the wrong spot, it breaks up your body line and can feel unflattering- even when the individual item may work on it’s own.
The solution isn’t buying more clothes. It’s styling what you already have, but focusing on proportion.
Instead of splitting your outfit in equal halves ( 50/50), aim to divide your body visually into 1/3 and 2/3. This technique helps to avoid cutting your body at it’s widest point. It can also create length, even if your legs are on the shorter side.
