Hey friend! I am so glad you are here. When you love the way you look, you begin to show up differently - that's the power of transformation.I understand the desire to have confidence both inside and out, to feel visible in a noisy world.
Welcome to your guide to all things style for the Modern Midlife Woman.
Remember the saying, you never get a second chance to make a first impression? This saying may be old fashioned to some but it rings as true today as it did when it first was said 60 years ago ( whether by Oscar Wilde or Will Rogers – there is a big debate about who said it!)
It’s important to always be mindful of how you present yourself in the initial stages of any relationship, professional or personal. Setting a positive tone early on will help to create a positive foundation for the relationships you are making whether personal or professional. It’s also important to remember that creating a great first impression doesn’t have to be hard. Let me share a few tips.
People make their first impressions quickly, in less than 7 seconds! What you wear and how you style it is the way you can tell the world who you are- it’s truly powerful what clothes can do. Knowing your style can connect style to confidence.
Knowing your personal style is an empowering way to boost your confidence. Fashion is so much more than just the clothes you put on in the morning – it is a way to express yourself and show the world who you are. It’s amazing how much impact you can have with just a few pieces of clothing, as people form their first impressions in only seven seconds. You can use fashion to make a statement and show off your individual personality and style. With the right combination of clothes and accessories, you can show the world the real you.
Confidence can be a tricky thing and it can be difficult to find the motivation and energy to work on restoring it especially in midlife. It is funny how confidence can start to waiver, quietly and slowly, throughout our lives. The confidence I had as a 20 year old seemed to be zapped away in my 40’s. Once I hit my late 40’s I decided I had enough and started to work to get it back. Taking time for yourself to do something that you enjoy can be a great way to restore your confidence. But how do I start???
I had felt like I had lost my style mojo- my style fun! I decided to reevaluate what my style is and how I want to represent myself to the world.
It can be important to take inspiration from others and find what resonates with you, but it’s equally important to make sure you stay true to your own style. Everyone has their own unique style, and it’s important to express it in a way that feels authentic to you.
Ask yourself questions like:
-Why you like the outfit you’re looking at and
-What elements of it you can incorporate in your own style.
That way, you can create something unique and personal that feels true to you.
Looking for inspiration can be overwhelming so I say keep it simple. I love to use Pinterest for this. Pinterest is a great resource for finding inspiration without the same level of distraction that other platforms can bring. Pinning my favorites, made it easier to understand my style. Then I really dug in and studied it. Here is an example of my Pinterest channel.
Think about what you are loving about these outfits, what makes you choose these pictures?
Do you have an outfit that you love and makes you feel confident? What is it about that outfit you love so much? The color? The style? How it fits you ?
It’s absolutely true that having pieces that you love and make you feel good can make all the difference when it comes to connecting your style with confidence. Everyone’s style is different, and what makes one person feel great may not work for another. It’s all about finding what works for you and your lifestyle. For example, if you have a classic style, then investing in timeless pieces that you can mix and match to create a capsule wardrobe is a great idea. On the other hand, if you prefer bright colors and patterns, then having a wardrobe full of items that make you feel happy and energized is the way to go. Ultimately, the key is to find pieces that make you feel confident and express your own unique style.
Creating a wardrobe full of clothes that bring joy is a great way to make getting dressed easier and more fun! To start, think about what styles you like and what pieces make you feel confident and polished. Consider the occasions you’ll wear each piece and the colors, textures and prints that make you feel your best. You can also look for clothes that have unique details like embroidery, pockets, or embellishments. Most importantly, don’t forget to have fun with clothes and accessorize with items that make you smile!
Here are some other tips to connect style and confidence…
1. Do you have a style icon or someone whose style you admire? Consider what it is you are actually drawn to…is it their confidence, polish or ability to not give a damn…
2. Consider those 7 seconds – how do your clothes and your style share the story of who you are? Are they representing the real you?
3. Remember that outfit which you felt fantastic in? You want more of that!
I hope you have found this helpful as you go along your style journey. A lot of my clients have a feeling of being “’lost” and want to feel excited about their style and fashion again. Making sure you know your style, your body shape and best colors is a form of self-care. It is so important you take time for yourself- don’t see it as selfish, it is actually kindness. If you are ready to discover these for yourself I would recommend booking the Get Your LifeStyled Experience with me. In this transformative experience we go over all of these things and more step by step. This is a truly guided process and the end results are amazing!
We have to get dressed everyday and wear clothes. Being connected and truly loving our style is such a positive benefit to our mindset, our confidence and our wellbeing that it should never be underestimated.

Remember, one way to connect style to confidence is to wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident. When you look in the mirror and feel good about what you see, it can boost your self-esteem and make you more confident in social situations. Additionally, make sure that your style reflects your personality, as this can give you an extra boost of confidence. Finally, don’t be afraid to experiment with fashion and take risks. Choosing pieces that are outside of your comfort zone can make you feel more empowered and confident.
